In a remarkable fusion of fashion, sports, and culture, Abu Dhabi has taken a significant stride with the launch of a unique limited-edition t-shirt line. This initiative is a collaborative effort between Experience Abu Dhabi, Manchester City Football Club, and the renowned sportswear brand PUMA. It's not just a fashion statement but a blend of cultural heritage and modern sports enthusiasm.


A Union of Football, Culture, and Style


This innovative line of t-shirts emerges as the latest outcome of the ongoing partnership between Experience Abu Dhabi and Manchester City. Coinciding with the opening of the City Challenge at Yas Mall, an engaging football-themed interactive experience, the launch event was more than just about clothing—it was a celebration of sports, culture, and innovation.


Renowned Emirati artist Thikra Alsuwaidi, part of the Strategic Marketing & Communications department at DCT Abu Dhabi, is the creative mind behind the t-shirt designs. Her artwork beautifully marries elements of football with the rich cultural and fashion tapestry of Abu Dhabi. It's an artistic representation of the city's heritage and a nod to the global appeal of football.





Design Significance: A Blend of Tradition and Modernity Abu Dhabi Puma Manchester City

The design intricacies of these t-shirts are inspired by traditional UAE door designs, showcasing a deep respect for local heritage. They feature cultural symbols such as Arabic coffee cups, traditional weaving crafts, Burqa'a, the serene Al Ain Oasis, and the picturesque Abu Dhabi shoreline. These elements are seamlessly integrated with significant motifs from Manchester City, including the club's formation date, the red rose of Lancaster, and iconic moments from the team’s history.


Strengthening Global Connections


H.E. Nouf Mohamed Al Boushelaibi, Executive Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration. “Our partnership with Manchester City and PUMA underlines our dedication to leveraging partnership power to showcase Abu Dhabi globally," she said.


From Manchester City's perspective, Serena Gosling, Director of Retail and Licensing, expressed excitement about offering unique experiences and products to their global fan base through such creative partnerships.


PUMA's Commitment to Local Talent


PUMA Middle East General Manager, Taner Seyis, highlighted the brand's focus on embracing UAE culture by bringing local Emirati talent to the forefront in their special-edition apparel. This collaboration is a testament to PUMA's commitment to blending global icons with local creativity, offering a fresh perspective on cultural identity.


A Star-Studded Launch


The launch event, graced by Manchester City stars like Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Ederson, and Mateo Kovacic, took place at the City Store by PUMA in Yas Mall. The presence of these football icons added glamour to the event, bridging the gap between sports and fashion enthusiasts.
