AS Monaco has announced the renewal of its partnership with FC Versailles, a club competing in France’s third division (National), as part of its broader commitment to youth development and regional talent integration. The collaboration, originally initiated in 2017, has been reaffirmed through a new agreement signed at La Diagonale, Monaco’s training and education center.
Strategic Partnership Focused on Player Development
The renewed agreement between AS Monaco and FC Versailles reflects a mutual interest in fostering young talent, particularly from the Île-de-France region—long regarded as one of the most prolific regions for producing professional footballers.
Under the terms of the renewed partnership, FC Versailles will continue to benefit from AS Monaco’s:
Technical support and coaching frameworks
Access to scouting and detection programs
Opportunities for player integration into AS Monaco’s academy teams
Training visits and observational sessions at La Diagonale
This enables Versailles-based players and coaching staff to gain exposure to elite-level methodologies and facilities, improving both individual development pathways and club training structures.
A Dual Approach: Sporting and Structural Development
In addition to player-focused benefits, the partnership will also offer training sessions and educational exchanges for coaches and club staff, allowing FC Versailles to adopt best practices from one of France’s most respected academies. Coaches from Versailles will have access to La Diagonale, attend AS Monaco first-team matches at Stade Louis-II, and participate in shared workshops and seminars.
This knowledge exchange model is consistent with Monaco’s long-term strategy of building satellite partnerships with grassroots and semi-professional clubs, enabling geographically diversified scouting and early-stage development integration.
Versailles: A Club with Growing Ambitions AS Monaco FC Versailles
Founded in 1989 (with historical roots dating back to 1907), FC Versailles has emerged in recent years as a high-performing development club, fielding over 1,200 academy players annually. Backed by a new ownership group—including entrepreneur Alexandre Mulliez and Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly—the club is positioning itself as a key talent incubator within the French football system.
The club’s recent run to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France and its consistent performances in the Championnat National further reinforce its reputation as a rising force in French football.
Monaco’s Broader Development Strategy
For AS Monaco, this renewed partnership reflects a growing focus on external development alliances. By reinforcing ties with clubs in talent-rich regions, the club ensures access to a wider talent pool, while offering partners a pathway into Monaco’s elite performance system.
Sébastien Muet, Director of AS Monaco’s Academy, and Anthony Perrat, President of FC Versailles’ association, were both present at the signing—highlighting the commitment of both organizations to shared development goals.
