FOT: UEFA EURO 2024

UEFA EURO 2024 will see Deutsche Bahn playing the role of a national sponsor, facilitating eco-friendly transportation for fans and teams throughout Europe.

Deutsche Bahn has been declared the official domestic sponsor for UEFA EURO 2024, promising an unparalleled travel offer for fans and teams across Europe.

Fans and the 24 participating teams from 32 European countries can look forward to reduced-price, environmentally friendly rail travel to the ten tournament locations in Germany. The tournament is set to run from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

Deutsche Bahn is offering discounted national long-distance tickets for match ticket holders travelling within Germany. For those coming from outside Germany, a discounted EURO 2024 InterRail pass will be made available. This pass allows for a round trip from any of the 32 European countries to Germany, as well as unlimited domestic travel on Deutsche Bahn's long-distance services.

Deutsche Bahn CEO Dr Richard Lutz, German federal transport minister Dr Volker Wissing, and UEFA EURO 2024 tournament director Philipp Lahm presented the partnership at Berlin's primary train station. An ICE train specifically branded for the event served as the backdrop.

Philipp Lahm expressed the partnership with Deutsche Bahn underscores their commitment to a sustainable UEFA EURO 2024. With the slogan 'United by football. United in the heart of Europe', they aim to facilitate unforgettable memories and foster a sense of unity across Europe and society. Deutsche Bahn's support in providing eco-friendly transportation for players and fans from across the globe to the match locations in Germany is an integral part of this.

Dr Lutz echoed these sentiments, expressing excitement for the unique UEFA EURO 2024 taking place in Germany. Drawing parallels between the teamwork inherent in football and railways, he highlighted the opportunity to make UEFA EURO 2024 an event dedicated to green mobility.

Dr Wissing pointed out that the experience of the European Championship begins with the journey to the stadium. He stressed the significance of ensuring safe and easy transportation for approximately 56,000 guests and fans per match to the stadiums and fan zones. The partnership between Deutsche Bahn and UEFA sends a strong signal for their focus on rail and public transport.

Travel tickets will be available from mid-January 2024, following the commencement of match ticket sales on October 3, 2023.

Deutsche Bahn is anticipating a surge in travellers using the rail network to reach venues. To accommodate this, the modern ICE fleet will be expanded to more than 400 vehicles in the coming months, offering up to 30% more seating.

Plans are also in the works for additional off-peak connections and extra trains for round trips to and from match locations. Post the EURO 2024 group stage draw, further additional services will be planned for each match.

DB Regio and DB Station & Service are also preparing intensively for the tournament. They plan on reinforcing local transport services for the matches and setting up special welcome counters at train stations in Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dortmund, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen, Stuttgart, and Düsseldorf.
