Details of the Agreement Extraordinary General Assembly FC Barcelona Nike
The treasurer of FC Barcelona, Ferran Olivé, presented the details of the renewed partnership, describing it as a significant upgrade for the club. He highlighted that the relationship with Nike, which began decades ago, has been pivotal for the club’s brand, but there was a need for renegotiation to secure more favorable terms.
In 2021, Joan Laporta's Board identified that the club was not maximizing its revenue potential under the previous deal. Negotiations with Nike have now resulted in what Olivé described as “an agreement between equals,” emphasizing the mutual benefits for both parties.
Key Features of the New Nike Agreement
The renegotiated contract introduces several enhancements, including:
• Financial Improvements:
• A signing bonus.
• Increased annual sponsorship fees.
• Performance-based bonuses for titles won.
• Removal of penalties tied to unfavorable on-field results.
• Revaluation mechanisms to ensure the agreement’s terms remain competitive over its 14-year span.
• Strengthening BLM (Barcelona Licensing and Merchandising): The deal focuses on expanding the club’s branding and merchandising capabilities. Through this collaboration, FC Barcelona will double the revenue generated under the previous arrangement. The club will also regain control over global retail and e-commerce operations, allowing for better alignment with its strategic goals.
