Gerard Pique's Kings League is a seven-a-side football league created by the former Barcelona and Spain defender. The Kings League was created by former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique in collaboration with Catalan footballer and streamer Ibai Llanos. The league is aimed at attracting the younger generation back to the sport of football through an exciting and stimulating format, featuring new and unique rules that break the traditional conventions of the game. Pique announced his plans for the Kings League in November, just days after retiring from professional football. The Kings League project started on January 1, 2023. All the matches can be streamed on the league's official Twitch channel.
RULES
The Kings League has different rules like kick-offs in waterpolo style, unlimited subs, sin bins for yellow/red cards, offsides, and VAR (which can be used once per match). There is also a Golden Card system, where the coaches select from five special cards to give their team an advantage. Penalty shootouts are also included in the rules, where players start at the halfway line and have five seconds to score. Finally, teams are allowed to substitute players while the ball is in play, but those players must enter and exit the game either in front of their team's bench or from the corner.
PLAYERS
The league features golden cards, a masked player going by the nickname Enigma, and former football stars. Teams are presided over by the likes of Sergio Aguero, Iker Casillas, and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. The players are drawn from a variety of sources, including professional footballers, local non-league footballers, and players from big academies. The format is seven-a-side and each team has a squad of 12 players.
THE ROLE OF AGUERO AND CASILLAS
Sergio Aguero and Iker Casillas are both presidents of teams in the Kings League. Aguero is the president of Kunisports, while Casillas is the president of 1K. They both participated in the draft of players, where they chose the ten players that make up their teams. They also have the responsibility of selecting the 11th and 12th players, which are ringers, in most cases ex-professionals, but in some cases are current professionals, too. Additionally, they are responsible for implementing the rules of the Kings League, such as the golden card, which can be used by the coaches before the game.

CUPRA is the high-performance road car branch of the SEAT brand, so CUPRA cars are made by SEAT under the CUPRA brand name. Cupro is a 'regenerated cellulose' fabric made from cotton waste. It is made using the teeny tiny silky cotton fibres, known as linter, that stick out of the cottonseed and are too small to spin. The linter is dissolved into a cuprammonium solution, which is a mixture of copper and ammonium, dropped into caustic soda, then spun into fibre. Much like Tencel and Modal, cupro is a plant-based material that is chemically processed to produce the resulting fabric. Cupro is said to have all the positive qualities of silk: it’s silky-smooth and drapes just like the luxurious material.
