The partnership, formalized at the VAR Center in Lissone, was signed by Iliad Italia CEO Benedetto Levi and Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo, marking a new chapter in Italian football’s pursuit of precision and innovation.

This partnership highlights Iliad’s mission to promote transparency and simplicity, values it has embedded in its telecommunications services since its arrival in Italy. Just as Iliad disrupted the telecom market with clear, straightforward pricing, the company now seeks to empower Lega Serie A’s technological tools like the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and Goal Line Technology (GLT). These systems have been instrumental in ensuring fair play by providing referees with reliable tools to make accurate, real-time decisions.

Since 2017, Lega Serie A has led the way globally with the introduction of VAR, becoming the first league worldwide to integrate semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) in 2023. This advanced tool tracks players’ positions and reconstructs their movements in 3D, streamlining offside decisions with pinpoint accuracy. This continuous investment in cutting-edge tech has enhanced the referee's decision-making process and enriched the fan experience by ensuring accuracy in every match.
Located at the Iliad International Broadcast Center in Lissone, the heart of Serie A’s technological advancements features eight VAR rooms handling camera feeds from all 18 Serie A stadiums. Since July 2021, this technology hub has managed the video, audio, and data streams for Serie A Enilive, the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, and the EA SPORTS FC Supercup, extending its influence across Europe, America, Asia, and the MENA region. Through this facility, fans around the world can enjoy Serie A content delivered with unparalleled quality and clarity.
